GUSUNON KINRU ASSOCIATION (AGK)

The training center "Association Gusunon Kinru" helps young women who, for various reasons, were unable to attend school or had to drop out early, to catch up on their schooling and at the same time learn a profession. The center weaves, sews and makes jewelry. They are particularly committed to women who are in difficult life situations or are threatened by forced marriage. The aim is to enable these women to provide for themselves. The center thus creates a safe space where they not only receive vocational training, but also the support they need to lead a fulfilling life (later).

The center's products not only serve to produce traditional clothing, but also support the reintegration of girls and young women who have dropped out of school. They finance the living expenses and school fees of girls and young women who, due to their family and financial situation, would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school or learn a profession.

Their vision goes beyond mere training - they want to help girls shape their lives independently and master the challenges of the future.
Together with "Amour et Vie", the "Association Gusunon kinru" organizes weekly lessons to teach the students sex education, among other things.
In addition, until 2023, they were supported by dedicated volunteers from Germany who taught the students reading, writing and arithmetic.
Unfortunately, no volunteers can currently be deployed as the security situation in northern Benin is not optimal. Nevertheless, Juliette, the head of the association, and her husband Réné are still on site to advance their mission and help the young women.

Anyone who buys from Abenin not only promotes the unique craftsmanship of the Bètammaribè, but also supports the "Association Gusunon Kinru" and thus changes the lives of young women.
In the words of Juliette, the head of the "Association Gusunon Kinru": "He who saves a woman saves an entire people!

Due to their vision, we source the fabric for our jewelry pouches from the talented young women of the "Association Gusunon Kinru". Juliette and her students also sew the jewelry pouches for Abenin.

We became aware of the center through "Kinderhilfe Westafrika". They have been supporting them for some time by collecting monetary and in-kind donations in Germany. We also want to financially support Juliette and her vision in the future so that she can, among other things, hire a teacher for the students again.

We donate a portion of our sales for this purpose. In addition, €1 from each jewelry pouch purchased goes directly to the "Association Gusunon Kinru".

We look forward to the joint development and cooperation with Juliette, her husband René and their students.
